DadShed enrols onto GCHQ Accelerator programme

By | Public | No Comments

The #SafeCitizenAccelerator is a programme focused on technology products that improve citizen safety and is run in partnership with UP Ventures at the The Landing in Salford.

Buildings can be made safer if relevant and publicly available information can be made easily accessible. Imagine, if when logging into a residential or commercial building’s WIFI that you, as an occupier, instantly have the option of knowing if that building is legally compliant for that jurisdiction? This could mean knowing if the electrical or gas certifications are up to date, are the smoke detectors working or tested recently and have the fire escapes been checked by the local emergency service? Additionally, does everybody know where the fire escapes are, is the external cladding non-combustible and are those installed sprinklers working; What else what be useful to have at your finger tips?

At DadShed, we believe that some building data could be and should be made publicly available, initially in a format that can be manually or physically requested, though long term integrated into technology platforms.

DadShed aims to be in the single truth for information of at any place, collecting data from numerous sources; To find out more about how we are doing this or if you wish to get involved, please get in touch.

DadShed partners with Gnatta’s technology platform

DadShed partners with Gnatta to deliver unified communications for the property sector.

Dadshed have partnered with fellow North-West company Gnatta to improve the communication technology available to the property sector. Gnatta offers products to unify messaging across social media (Facebook Messenger; Twitter), email, telephony, webchat, and more, into a single user interface. With big-name existing clients including ASOS and Cancer Research UK, Gnatta is already used by organisations from industries as diverse as retail, utilities, and the charity sector. Now, combined with Dadshed’s expertise, both organisations are excited to enter the property industry.

“The real estate community has been conservative on how they handle their customer communications, still preferring to use letters, email, and the good old-fashioned telephone call, though things are changing. With the advent of new technology in homes and a new tech-savvy generation of younger occupiers, the most forward-thinking property companies are actively looking for better solutions. Gnatta will provide homeowners and tenants with a way of communicating through a channel of their choice, whether it be texting or using social media with their apartment concierge, letting agent or property developer,” advises Russell Mills, Head of Partnerships at DadShed. With innovation in property technology (proptech) increasingly coming to the industry from new sources – often without a property background – Gnatta and DadShed are joining a growing trend. With plans to target the UK property (real estate) sector, the partnership also offers capabilities to expand into both international English-speaking territories and other languages.

Can you share your knowledge & insights around PropTech?

In 2019, DadShed started organising a bi-monthly Meetup focusing on the world that is the PropTech at venues within Manchester.

Check out for more detail, and how to register this is a way to be kept informed about future events and see who has presented in the past.

The ambition is to host the largest and most active PropTech meetup in the UK we believe that we are well over halfway there having nearly 220 members in the group (the largest UK group that we are aware of has in the order of 400 members in London).

Our next Manchester PropTech event is on Thursday 26th of September, we are looking forward to exploring how design plays an important part both internally and externally within developments.

We do have a plan for future speakers and events in 2020, and would appreciate any feedback that people might have we are also keen to engage with anyone wishing to share their expertise within PropTech and property development, welcoming conversations to explore how we add value to this sector ‘together’.

Where’s your Stopcock?

By | Public | No Comments

Wouldn’t it be great to find your stopcock easily everytime you move home?

Most people have at least spent some time looking for the stopcock and when they do, it could be located in places that are hard to reach. This could even mean that the stopcock needs to be relocated and will involve a plumber. There are even tips on how to find and relocate your stopcock on the internet.

Aren’t there better ways to manage such things?

I recently moved to a new apartment and had difficulties turning the heating on too. It took me a couple of days to figure out what the problem was after hours of searching the web.

Imagine if the information was provided to us in advance and we didn’t have to waste time and effort finding the stopcock or in my case the heating system. At DadShed, we are trying to solve those issues, save time, effort and money for the users of the building.

DadShed will champion tenants and homeowners, working with the professionals involved in the real estate sector by enabling the data within buildings to be easily accessible.

Let us know what you think about this? We’d love to hear from you.
